Description

Fibre-Plex^™ capsules supply a balance of soluble and insoluble, as well as fermentable and non-fermentable fibres. Fibre is plant material that is not digested as it passes through the gastrointestinal tract and is an important factor in the maintenance of overall health. Soluble dietary fibre absorbs water in the digestive tract forming a gel-like substance and is fermented in the colon to varying degrees. This results in lower colonic pH and the production of short chain fatty acids, important factors for the intestinal microflora and the health of the mucosal cells. Insoluble fibre helps movement in the gastrointestinal by adding bulk to stools. Many insoluble and soluble fibres bind dietary cholesterol and bile acids in the intestine.

Glucomannan is a partially fermentable, soluble fibre extracted from konjac root. Carrot and celery powders provide a rich array of soluble and insoluble dietary fibres, including cellulose, hemicellulose, pectin and lignin. Sodium alginate is a soluble partially fermentable fibre derived from seaweed.
